The English lyrics of this song were written by Prof.Thanpuying Nopakhun Thongyai Na Ayudha and H.H.Prince Chakrabandh Pensiri. The Thai version, “Kam Laew”, was written by Thanpuying Somroj Swasdikul Na Ayudhya.

It was originally believed that His Majesty had composed this song for H.R.H. Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, but H.R.H.Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn was once heard to have remarked that it was not composed especially for her, however it was believed that it was her song because it was composed about the time she was born and every time she heard it, she would fall asleep.
